Saturday’s Shopping Trip + More!~

Happy Sunday Everyone!!

Yesterday Brett and I decided to head off for an over night shopping trip.  We headed over to St. Mary’s, MO., then across to Fairview Heights for the night.

Here are some of the goodies I purchased on my trip.

Now these are just quick photos, I’ll be sure to show them off better when I find a spot for them.

Also some of this is going to be listed on my website or Etsy shop, as soon as I get time.

First off, let me start with my favorite find.

I found this Amazing, antique coverlet.

No holes, no rips, nothing!!

It does have a slight bit of yellowing around the edges, but that is it.

It was made from three separate sections, sewn together to form one coverlet.

It is a little small for my bed, but it will do for now.

And for the price, I couldn't pass it up.

Anyway, here it is.

I also got…

An antique crock.

An old wool blanket.  Also in wonderful condition.

A whole bunch of fabric.

I love purchasing fabric from antique stores.

You can find such bargains on it.

Each one of these large, yardage, bundles only cost me $1 to $1.50.

Cant beat that!

A lot of antique doll and baby clothes, for my teddy bears.

Large, old, egg, cake pan or mold.

Vintage wood bowl and some quilt blocks.

Small, lidded, crock.

Wonderful reproduction, box to hang from peg.

And most of you know, I LOVE flat back cookie cutters and have a large collection of them.

Check out this this large bunny one I found!!

True, old, primitive stuffed cat toy.

An old mirror.

I did purchase some more items, but they are for an upcoming swap, so I cant show them off right now.

Last but certainly not least,  just purchased one of Dru's amazing teddy bears.

I only sent payment off Friday, so he hasn't had time to arrive to his new home yet.

I will be sure to show him off again when he does.

But for now, I will use Dru's photo to show you.

I'm so excited for him to arrive.

I have wanted one of Dru's bears Forever!!

I also wanted to share the new clothes pin bag I just made.

Didn’t it turn out cute!!

I used burlap and old flour sack fabric.

I currently have it listed in my Etsy Shop if you want to check it out.

Well, that is it for me today.

I have been suffering from a terrible headache all day.

I keep trying to push through it, but I think it is time to go lay down and rest.

This Is So Me ~ This Is So You ~ Swap (Sign Ups Open)

Hi Everyone!!

Well, I have decided to host another swap.

I am calling it….

~ This Is So Me! ~ This Is So You! ~ Swap ~

Here is what I want you to do.

You are required to send 2 items.

Yes, you may send more if you chose, but the two things listed below are required.

I want you to think about yourself.

What one thing comes to mind that You think best describes YOU!

I know most of us have multiple things that do that!~:)

You know, the kind of item you see somewhere and think,

“That is soooo me.”

(Are seeing where I’m going with this?)

*Yep, in your swap goody package, I want you to send one item that you think is a good example of you.

Then for your second required item….

I want you to visit your swap partners blog.

Read through it, look at the photos, the links and other blogs she enjoys.

Then come up with an item You think best describes Her.

Something you think she will just LOVE!!

*Send her one item that you think best describes her.

These two items can be handmade or purchased.

Now, I know that 99.9% of you wonderful ladies always put so much heart and thoughtfulness into your swap packages.

But to the other 0.1% let me say…

Since I am only requiring 2 items, I want you to spend some time really thinking of something wonderful to send.

Something that really reflects you and your partner.

In other words, please don’t just throw a couple of items in a box and call it done.

We all look forward to receiving our goody packages, and it is very disappointing to get one in that was just thrown together.

On the other hand, there is nothing more wonderful then to get a swap in that you can tell your partner really put a lot of thought and heart into what to send.

If you are not willing or able to take the time and the effort in making your swap package special, then please don't join in.

Okay, I’ll now jump down off the soap box and share the Rules to The Swap…

RULES:

#1 you must be a follower of my blog and have commented at least a few times so I am familiar with who you are.

#2 you must have an active blog of your own. 

#3 your swap package must be at least a $20 value.

#4 You must be committed to mailing out your package on time.  No one likes to wait 2 months for their goody package to arrive.

#5 You must have delivery confirmation on your shipped package and email me the number when you ship it out.

#6 Only send items you would like to receive.  Don’t use this swap to get rid of things you don't like or want.  Because more than likely your partner won’t want them either. ;)

#7 You Must thank your partner when you receive your goodies!

#8 You must live in the USA or Canada.

If you don't want to ship to Canada, you MUST let me know ahead of time. Let me know when you email me your shipping information.
Because I am opening the swap to Canada blogging pals.
Shipping to Canada isnt that much higher than the USA.

~ If you agree to the above rules and would like to join in on the swap, please email me your name and address.

~ PLEASE be sure to include your blog name And blog URL.  This helps me keep track of what blog goes with what name.  Plus it makes it easier when making up the partner list.

I am going to leave the signups open for 1 Week.

I know not very long but I don't want to get overwhelmed.

~The very last day to sign up will be next Friday,  March 4th.

I will spend that weekend setting up the partner list and will try to get them out to everyone the following Monday, March 7th.

You will have One month (and 1 day) to finish up your swap packages.

All goody packages will need to be mailed out no later than,  Friday April 8th.

Yes, you may mail them out earlier, but please no later than April 8th.

I will be adding another linky to the top of my blog for showing off goody packages, when it get closer to that time.

So, when you get them in and make a blog post about them, Link Up.

I think the Linky is a great way to see everyone's goody packages.  And helps us all from missing anyone's post.

A handmade, primitive, clothes pin holder bag.

I made the front out of an old cutter quilt.

The back in done in a vintage, blue and white, dotted fabric.

Pinned to the front is an old wooden clothes pin.

The entire bag has been put through an aging process for the wonderful, prim, grubby, appearance.

Prim patches of coordinating old blue fabric have been sewn to the back of worn spots on the quilt.
Don't worry, there are no holes in the bag. ;)

My 200th Post Giveaway!!!!

This primitive pillow was handmade by me.

I used two different types of antique pillow ticking for the sides.

Sewn to front is a square of Osnaburg fabric.

Then sewn to the top of that is a piece of burlap.

Printed onto the burlap is Abe Lincoln.

The backing is done in new blue homespun fabric.

The pillow measures approx. 12.5” wide by 8” tall.

It has been tea stained for the grubby aged appearance.

Something I want to point out…

When tea staining, the red ticking portion of the pillow did bleed some.

You will notice the sides of the  Osnaburg, have a reddish cast to it from the red ticking below.

I don't think this looks bad, just adds to the prim grubby appearance, IMO.

But I did want to point it out to all of you beforehand.
