Happy Sunday Everyone!

Good Afternoon Prim-Pals!!
I hope everyone is having a great day.
Not much going on here in Southern IL. It is a little chilly here today, low 50's and cloudy. I shouldn't be complaining because it could be worse, at least it isn't freezing outside. But I guess those 70+ days spoiled me. The kids have been on Spring Break all last week, so I didn't get much done. They go back tomorrow.
Excuse me while I do my happy dance! LOL!!
Just kidding, we have had a good week but I just never seem to get anything done with everyone home.
The biggest news here at our home was my son started his first job!! He has been trying to get one for a couple of years but it wasn't in God's plan until now. He has been so excited. He started work at Krogers this past Tues. Here is a photo of him all dressed and ready for his first day!!



I have been working on adding some labels and making prim jars. This appears to be my newest obsession. I got some amazing prim labels from, Yankee Lane Primitives. So I have been going nuts adding them to everything I can find. Isn't funny how the little things can add so much to a display. I have added some before and after photos to show you what I mean. Take my jars seen below. They look good before but by adding prim labels to the front and filling the jars with beans and oats... Now WOW it looks Great!! Well, at least I think it does.

Just a little detail makes a big impact. Here are so before and after photos of an old whiskey jug I added a label to.

I love these labels. And the ones I have gotten from Yankee Lane Primitives, are some of the very Best I have ever seen!!

This one is my Favorite one because it has "Abe" on front!!






Another example of where a little detail can make a big impact is where I added a simple berry vine above my kitchen cabinet. The upper area above my corner kitchen cabinet is so small I couldn't fit anything in there.
And to me it always looked so blaa but I didn't know what to do with it.
Then my Mom brought me home a berry vine from one of her shopping trips. And I knew just where it should go. Yep, that was exactly what that cabinet needed.

Now I just need more to fill in some other spots.

So that is pretty much all that I have been doing for the last few days. I need to get started on some dolls but I cant get in the mood. Really what I am in the mood to is plant flowers, mow, and work outside!!! But unfortunately it isn't that time yet. I cant wait!!! There is nothing better than coming in for the night all sweaty and dirty from working in the yard all day. I'm ready to see the flowers, smell fresh cut grass and decorate my porch!!! I keep telling myself... Hang on its almost here!!

God Bless The Primitive Womans Husband!!

I think it takes a special man to be a hubby of a Primitive Woman!!

Let me explain!!

Take my new baby here. Oh I love her!! I found her at a local craft antique store. Unfortunately, when I first saw her it was right before pay day and I admit it... I was broke!
So I had to leave her behind. For days I walked around my house talking about this doll I found. Trying to explain each and every detail to my husband.
"Oh, you should have seen her", I said. "She was made of heavy linen, aged perfectly. Her hair was made of actual horse hair. She had the most perfect dress. " And I said with much excitement, "She Was Completely Hand Sewn!"
He just nodded his head, "Really" he replied trying to act as if any of that meant anything to him.
And I would walk around saying, "Oh she would great sitting there or maybe there."

Well, pay day came around and he got off work, he came in and said "Do you want to go get that doll you were talking about?"
Heck Yeah!! I don't think he meant right that minute but... that is when we went. He didn't even change out of his work clothes, he just got in the car and headed right back out.
As we drove to the store all I could say, "Oh I hope it isn't closed." "I hope no one has bought her." "I bet she's gone." To which he replied, "No it will be fine, its only been a few days."

So we arrive at the shop. He just sits in the car and I go in. I nearly ran to the booth. At first I didn't see her, "Shoot! I knew it!!"
But then she caught my eye, she had only been moved to a different spot. So I swooped her up, went and paid, and carried her out to the car.

I got in and sat her in my lap, "Well, what do you think? Isn't she adorable!"
He looked up from his i-phone. And yep, there it was... the eye roll!!! And the standard comment, "You paid how much for that?"

Proudly I stated, "She was Only $50!". For some reason I don't think he thought that was as much of a bargain as I did!~~
But then he went on once again trying to appear interested, "So where are going to put her?"
And I talked about all the different places she could go.
He just smiled and said, "Yeah she'll look good there."

Yes, I do think it takes a Special Man to be a Primitive Woman's Husband!!! :)

~ You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze. The swing set tipped over at least once. You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. (Oh yeah!)

~ You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Oleson!

~ You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink!

~ PONG! ('video tennis' ) was the most remarkable futuristic game you've ever heard of !

~Your hairstyle was described as having 'wings' or 'feathers' and you kept it 'pretty' with the comb you kept in your back pocket. When you walked, the 'wings' flapped up and down, looked like you were gonna 'take off'.

Crazy Past Months!!!

Hi Everyone!!

It sure has been a crazy past few months here at our home.

First off, let me say....

I am so sick of winter!!! I swear this year, it just about killed me. I NEED the sun and warmth to keep going!! I am so grateful for this past week here in Southern IL. It has been in the 70's!!! YAY!!! Sunshine!!! I feel Spring a comin'!!!

I got outside and cleaned up my yard. Worked on my porch some. I just tried to soak it all in!!!

Now, I feel much better!

Well, I finally got my wood floors down!! YAY!!

I have only been waiting 2 or so years for them. I think they turned out great, if I do say so myself. :) I still need to find new curtains for my living room. I have been looking for something new forever. And I just cant find the right ones. My hubby keeps asking me, What kind do you want? I tell him I don't know but I'll know them when I see them. To this he just rolls his eyes!! Oh, and I must not forget I still need my new furniture. Yep, still needing those wing back chairs and love seat!! Oh... hopefully soon!!

Okay lets see what else has been going on here...

My oldest daughter is getting married!! I guess that is the biggest thing. So we have been busy the last few months working on the plans for that. She originally wanted to do a package wedding in Gatlinburgh, TN. Which I thought was great because everything was included, all we needed to do was show up. But alot of the Grooms side wasn't going to come because of the 6 hour drive, so she has changed her mind. Now realize, she is planning on having her wedding June 5th. And decides now to have here. So here I am rushing around like a crazy person trying to figure out how we can possibly pull this off in such a short amount of time. I just don't know if it will be able to be done. She may have to put it off until Fall, but I'm trying!!

Secondly, my son is starting college this summer. So we are busy working on those plans.

And my youngest is Graduating for Jr. High this year and moving on to High School. With it getting closer to the end of the school year, there are a ton of events going on with that.

Between doing all of the Mom stuff, I also have my own projects going on. I have my website and trying to stay on top of everything there.
