Just A Little Tweakin’

Hi Everyone!!

This is just a quick little post to show some tweaking I did on my Bakers Cabinet today.

No major changes. Just removed the antique child's cupboard for the top, cleared out some things and added some new things.

Here are some B4 and After photos…

Just Some Of What I Have Been Doing

Hi Everyone!!

Well, did everyone watch the Game??

I usually do but….

Since my beloved Steelers weren't playing and since I have so many 1/2 done projects…

I didn't watch.

The only reason I would've been watching was for the commercials and I can watch the good ones on Youtube tomorrow. ;)

I cant show you everything I have done lately because some of it has been for my Trashy Partner and I don't want her to see. Hehee!

But here is some of what I have been doing this weekend…

Remember my basket and chair I got at GW last week?

camera_002_thumb[1]

Well, I dipped my basket a few times in an aging mixture and it does look better.

I may dip it a few more times to get it even darker though.

But here is what it looks like now…

007

It is hard to tell in the photo because of the flash but it truthfully is darker.  I promise!! :)

And remember the ugly blue wood chair??

Here is what I did with it…

mdochair

mdochair02

I really didn't know what I was doing but I think it turned out pretty cute.

I consider it a trial run before attempting to transform an actual ladder back!! LOL!!

Here are a few more pictures of it.

mdochair05

mdochair06

mdochair07

I also did a redo on a little bench I purchased from OTP a few months ago.

I would show you a B4 photo but I wasn't thinking and deleted it awhile back!! :(

It was a red bench and across the top it said, LOVE.

I repainted it back, then sanded and stained it.

Then a tacked a piece of an antique coverlet to the top.

I also did some tweaking to a doll I made.  I wasnt happy with her coloring.  So I did some more aging on her and now I think she looks much better.

And lastly, one more little project I did.

I made more grubby candles.

002

And that has pretty much been my weekend.

I've been crafting away the last few days.

I have really enjoyed myself.

I wish I could show you what else I've made and done, but you will have to wait until after the swap.  Hopefully Anne will show you. :)

One last thought.

Tomorrow Southern IL is reported to be getting a severe winter storm with even more snow and ice.

I really hope it doesn't happen.

I'm not in the mood for more of this crap! ;l

We never have weather like we have had this year.

I don't know what is going on but I really wish it would stop.

I wouldn't mind it as much if my job was like school and we closed for bad weather.

But unfortunately it doesn't!

So come Tuesday I will have to get out in it, no matter what.

Okay, that's it from me.

Hubby just headed off to bed so I'm going to go get caught up on some of TiVo shows.

Until Next Time…

Cupboard And Shelf Plus GW Finds

Hello All!!

Well, I just got in from work, ate, and of course watched today's GH.

I decided to log on and check in with everyone and show off a couple of make over’s.

This week I repainted my cupboard I have in my Dining Room.

The large one that I display my red ware and yellow ware on.

I haven't been happy with the paint on this piece since I first did it years ago.

So finally I got around to repainting it.

Here are some Before and After photos.

I could only find these older photos of the before.  So you will notice that it is decorated differently in each picture.

But I guess that really doesn't matter, since I only want to show off the previous yellow paint compared to the new black.

I did sand and age this piece.  Leaving some of the yellow showing through slightly in spots.  Making it appear worn away.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

strtwgdiv

Here is another make over I did awhile back.

This is one of the first things my husband ever bought me.  He bought it in 1990 and I've had it just sitting on a shelf in my sewing room for years.  I knew I could never get rid of it, but it wasn't my style any more either.

(Please ignore the dust!! LOL!!)

b4cab01

So when I redid my 1/2 bath I needed something for one of the walls in there.  I decided to prim this piece up some.

I removed the heart shaped doors and painted it an aged mustard yellow.

This is what it looks like now.

002

Not too bad, if I do say so myself!

Hehee!

strtwgdiv

Here are some Goodwill finds I got the other day.

camera 002

I paid less than $4 for the whole lot.

I bought the pan for making some panty cakes.  Just need to find some time to actually do that!!

Hopefully this weekend.

The basket I'm planning on trying to age it.

I was going to paint it but that may be too difficult.

So I'm going to try dipping it into some aging solution and see if that works.

I also have a plan for the chair.  Starting with a new coat of paint!! But then I am going to try something else with it.

I will be sure to show off the basket and the  chair as soon as I get them finished up.

So that leaves the candle holder and candle.

I really like the candle holder but not the candle.

So I painted the candle back and rolled it in a grubby mixture.

I think it turned out really neat.

I now have it sitting in my Dining Room on my newly paint cupboard.

016

What’cha think!!?

Pretty neat looking, huh?

Of course I know I can never burn it, but it does look really prim as is.

strtwgdiv

Well, that is about it for me.

I am going to try to find some time tonight or tomorrow to finish up my chair.

I'm really excited to see if my idea works.

I’ll be sure to show it off as soon as I get it done.

I now need to go spend some time with Hubby.

Until next time…

Take Care and Prim Filled Blessings to you ALL!!

Can Someone PLEASE Tell Me…

WHY my three days off go by so much FASTER than my 4 days of work!!! ;)

Seriously though, I feel like it was just Friday night and I was looking forward to my 3 days off.  Thinking of all the many things I had planned to do and finish up during my weekend. Very few of which actually got done like planned.

Then spend all of Monday dreading having to go back on Tuesday!! Not that I dislike my job, I truthfully don’t.

I really don't mind it once I'm there.

But yet, every Monday, I feel myself NOT looking forward to having to go in Tuesday.  I miss being a work at home Mom and Wife.

I wonder if I will ever get use to this?  I wonder if I’ll ever be the type of woman who Loves working outside the home??  Because right now…. I'm not sure I ever will be.

I do like the extra money though!! I do love having a paycheck of my very own to look forward to.  I still wonder though if it’s worth my time away.

I know some people say, “I would get bored being at home all day, every day.”

But I honestly never am nor ever was.  I always have had so many projects going on that BORED was something I never felt.

BROKE yes, I experienced that but NEVER Bored!! Hehee!

Okay, enough grumbling from me on this subject.  This is my life right now.  Time to just suck it up and deal!!! :)

triheartdivx

I was going through more of my old photos over the weekend and found these.

It is fun for me to look back at how my tastes have changed over the years.

Here is a photo of Hubby’s and I very first home.

We built it in 1989/1990.

I was 19 and he was 20.

1sthouse

That is our oldest daughter in the photo.  She was 2!!

Oh my, I just want to reach into the photo and pick her up and hug and kiss her!!

Here are some photos of the inside.

But lets remember this was in 1990!! LOL!!

Remember 80’s style when looking at these photos.

Living Room:

1sthouse2

Master Bed Room:

1sthousebr1

1sthousebr

Bathroom:

That is all I could find right now.  But you will notice that even then I had a love for antiques!!

triheartdivx

I also wanted to share something my Mom made me awhile back.  I took photos of it and just haven't gotten around to putting them until now.

I have a second dough box.

One that I just could never find the right spot for.

I had mentioned to my Mom that I wished it had legs, so I could at least use it as some type of table.

But of course, since it is antique, I would NEVER want to damage it by adding legs directly to it.

So she made me this very prim, simple stand for it to sit on.  She did an excellent job of aging and distressing it.

I'm not sure you can tell in the photos but the stain on the the stand is nearly a perfect match to the dough box itself.

dbtab01

dbtab02

The first photo is more true to the actual coloring of the box.  In the second photo it appears darker than it actually is.

triheartdivx

If you follow my blog, you will know I talk a lot about my Mom.  So I wanted to show off some photos of her home.

I’m not certain if I have showed these off before or not.

If I have….

I apologize but I guess they are worth a second showing!! LOL!

This past summer she got new windows and siding.

And it just set her house off!!

Mom and Dad live down the street from me, in the same house I grew up in.  Of course it has changed a lot since I was a child.

Maybe one day I will add before and after photos of their home so you can truly appreciate how much it has changed. ;)

Don’t you just LOVE that front door!!!

I know I do!!

Plus oh my… Warm Weather!!

I miss SUMMER!!! :)

Well everyone, I guess it is time to go sit down and spend some time with Hubby before heading off to bed.

Oh but one more quick thing….

Something I am soooooo excited about!!!

Tomorrow Night…..

abch-300x100-0057

Anyone else looking forward to this??

I know I am!!!

I really hope Sawyer and Kate end up together!! Hehee!

Okay Prim Pals….

That is it for me tonight.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me.

Until next time,

Snow ~ Goodies ~ & Memories!~

Hello Everyone!!

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far.

Well, look at what I woke up to this morning!!!

YUCK!! SNOW!!!

snow1

When I went to bed last night it was snowing, but barely.

And we all thought that it was pretty much going it miss us.  But no such luck!!

It must have really came down while I was sleeping because when I woke up, we had almost a foot of snow out there.

snow2

Like I have said before…

We hardly ever get snow and when we do it is usually only once a year.  And usually only a few inches.

Which is what we got a few weeks ago.  So I thought hoped that was all we were going to get for the year.

Especially since a few days ago it was 60 degrees outside!!

snow3

Now we have this!!!

Crazy Southern IL weather!!

divider08

I spent the day being lazy relaxing and finishing up a few projects.

One of the things I finished up was a crazy primitive doll I made myself.

I'm not happy with her photos. Big surprise, huh.

She really is a lot cuter in person.  The flash made her come out looking like she has creases all over her face, but in person she doesn't look like that.

Well, any way here she is…

adoll1

cuface

I just cant decide where to put her.

I tried her on top of my fireplace….

place1

On my dough box…

place2

And on my cabinet…

place3

Oh heck, I can’t decide!

Maybe I’ll move her into my bedroom!! :) LOL!!

divider08

I also was looking through some photos today.

I came across some of a home Hubby and I once owned.

And I must say it was my all time favorite!!

We have owned 4 homes counting the one we live in now.  And we have moved 10 times in 22 years of marriage!!  We must be part Gypsy! LOL!

I wish I had a picture of what it looked like when we had it all landscaped, but I couldn't find any.

house1

When I lived in this house, I was BIG into the Victorian style.

Here are some photos.  The scanner messed up the coloring in the rooms though.  They look like the rooms are green but actually the wall paper and paint is a very deep blue.  Also the photos came out really dark but when I tried to lighten them, it just messed them up worse!

Foyer…

Living Room…

lrt2

Yes, there are the curtains I just replaced.

Those babies have hung in every home we have owned!! Hehee!

The dining room in this house was my favorite.  But I couldn't find the photos of it.  I'm sure I have some, I just need to look some more.

I still miss this house.

Shortly after we sold it, the couple we sold it to sold it to the hospital.  And they tore it down to put in a parking lot.

That literally made me Cry!!

I honestly don't think I would have ever sold it if I had known that was going to happen!!

divider08

I also came across this photo.

I LOVE this photo!!

It is of me and one of my Very Best Friends, Rhonda, in High School!!

merhonda

Hehee!!

This pictures makes me giggle!!

Oh, to be that young again!! :)

Congratulations!!

First off let me apologize for not getting this posted last night.

I was so worn out yesterday, then to top it off, I came down with a really bad headache. I wanted to get on post the winner but instead I fell asleep on the couch and ended up going straight to bed after that.

I am so sorry for the delay.

But I have picked the winner!!! I did it through random.org.  I assigned everyone a number.  The ladies who posted about the giveaway on their blogs were given two numbers, instead of just one.

And the lucky winner is….

Donna, One Simple Country Girl!!!!

Congratulations Donna!!!

Please email me your shipping information and I will get your goody packaged mailed out Monday.

I also want to thank everyone who joined in!!

I really appreciate all of you for stopping by and visiting me.  And for all your kind comments.  I love having giveaways!!

So if you didn't win this go around, don't loose hope there is always next time.  I will be having another giveaway in the Spring, maybe even sooner than that!!

They’re Here!!!

triheartdivx

Hello Everyone!!

I hope you all are having a fun and wonderful weekend!!

Well, my curtains came in this week.

I really like them.  I was so afraid I wouldn’t because I have had my Dorothy’s for so long, I was unsure about change.

But OMGosh!! I am so glad I finally took the plunge.

Anyone who knows me from RMS, WS, or JSPF knows I have been talking about wanting new curtains for years.I just couldn't decide on a style.  Then my Prim Pal, Dawn, got a pair of these style and I loved them.  So I finally bought me some.

Now I have went a little nuts with the photos.

Also if you know me, you know I always do!! LOL!!

Here are some B4 and after shots and some other views of my new prairie swag curtains.

I just couldn't get a good shot.

IMO, these look even better in person.  I truly love them and they give the whole room a much more prim look.  Not to mention the room actually feels larger with these.

divider07

I have a couple more photos to share with you…

I got some new goodies in the mail today.

1st off is a wonderful little red ware pitcher I bought from Karen, KM Primitives.

Since I collect red ware and yellow ware, I knew I had to have this as soon as I saw it.

Thanks so much Karen!! I Love it!! ;)

My creative juices have been flowing like crazy over this!! ;)

Thanks so much Char for putting this together and for letting me join in on the fun.
